Meet Our Musicians - Cameron Barnett

An opportunity to meet our musicians. Cam is one of our brilliant bassists and has played with us since 2018. He performs with us regularly at Weddings, Corporate Events, as well as the Ceilidh Club in Cecil Sharp House, Camden and beyond. Cam is our resident photographer. As he takes the most pictures of the rest of us, very few of our pictures are actually of him!

"Hey everyone! Cameron Barnett here, your friendly neighbourhood bassist. As some of you might already know, I have a bit of a reputation for using AI for just about everything. So, naturally, when our band leader asked for a promo text, I couldn't resist getting some help from my digital assistant."

When he's not laying down smooth bass lines for our band, you can find Cam immersed in the world of IT and violin bow repairing. Balancing music with his tech and craftsmanship interests keeps life interesting and full of surprises.

His favourite ceilidh dance has to be Cumberland Square Eight - the one where the dancers do the basket move. There's something incredibly entertaining about watching the excitement that unfolds as some get lifted off the ground, and it never fails to raise a smile.

Choosing a favourite venue is tough, but one that stands out is Big Penny Social where we play a series of Burns Night Ceilidh events every year. The energy from the crowd is always electric, the staff wonderful and the space is huge with good acoustics.

"It's a set of gigs I look forward to every January!"
